The World Is On Fire And The Sky Is Falling
October 25, 2008 12:40 pm UncategorizedThese are two of the most spoken sayings that people use to describe something when things are bad, really, bad. Our generation has not seen things so chaotic in almost every area that you can think of. There are problems that occur one or two at a time on a lesser scale, but in the past few years Americans and others across the globe are experiencing situations that we do not know exactly how to handle and some that are simply inescapable.
When it comes to circumstances that we can not do a thing about, it would have to the weather and other natural disasters that seem to be happening at random in some places that we have hardly ever even heard of. Earthquakes in China, Japan, America, and other countries have caused chaos, death, and destruction to entire towns. Then there are volcanoes that might not have erupted yet, but are being closely watched because of past destruction and new facts that scientists have discovered about areas like the Northwestern United States just for one.
Hurricanes, tsunamis, and cyclones are running rampant the past few years as well. Even though these weather formations are relatively familiar here and there, in recent years they seem to be occurring more frequently and stronger than ever. Our ability to track and predict the strength of these storms does nothing for our ability to be able to keep them from happening, but at least we get enough advance warning to be able to evacuate where they are going to hit. It does not in any way minimize the loss of property and the destruction economically that they can leave behind.
Another serious matter that has not been seen on this scale is our current economic situation. It is not only in the United States and it is not just a passing down turn in the economy, it is a global collapse in the banking world that affects so much of our lives. People have debts that are spiraling out of control and we have a government in place that evidently does not know how to fix the problem. It seems that our individual rights are slowly being eroded in the face of these many situations and what are we doing about that?
It appears that so many things are changing all over the world and what does this mean for us? Are there things we can do to step up and change them? Is our world heading in a direction that many of us find that we might not want to go? We can not really do much about the weather or natural disasters, but we need to take a closer look at the direction our government and those around the planet are headed and make sure we put in our two cents worth before we end up in a place we might not want to be.
